ACTIVITIES

Special EVENTS

An active life is a happy, fulfilling life. In addition to daily social activities and exercise, we hold special events for our residents. These include:

  • Annual Thanksgiving luncheon
  • Visits from Santa at Christmas
  • Monthly spring and summer picnics for residents and their visitors
  • Cultural performances at local arts venues
  • Community outings for shopping, dining, sports, and fairs
  • Second Wind Dreams

Our Activities Department plans many activities to stimulate the physical, social, and spiritual needs of our residents.

SECOND WIND DREAMS

Second Wind Dreams fulfill residents’ activity-related wishes in conjunction with volunteers and Princeton Health Care Center staff. These dreams have been as simple as a new set of dentures, family reunions, motorcycle rides, beach vacations, or being reunited with long-lost relatives.

AW’s dream was to see a sunrise & sunset at the beach. She was transported to Virginia Beach.  She spent 3 days & 2 nights!

She was transported by Princeton Rescue Squad to her family reunion in Dublin VA. She hadn’t been to one in 10 years!

EC’s dream was to revisit Graham High School one more time.  Mrs. EC taught school at Graham for 26 years.  PHCC along with former students of Mrs. EC made her dream come true.  She was taken to the school where former students and colleges surprised her with cake & refreshments.

EF hadn’t seen her son in 30 years.  In December 2013 PHCC in affiliation with Second Wind Dreams made her dream come true.  EF sons’ ticket was purchased along with a one night stay at The Sleep Inn in Princeton. He traveled 17 hours on a bus to visit his mother!

Mrs. GB’s dream was to have a new pair of dentures.  PHCC in affiliation with Second Wind Dreams made her dream come true!

AD’s dream was to ride a motorcycle one more time.  Her husband and her were avid riders! Hillbilly Cycle brought a motorcycle with a side car so Mrs. AD could go for the ride of a lifetime.   Family, staff & friends rode together with her!

SH’s dream was to ride a train.  She was transported to Cass Scenic Railroad where she took a train ride up to Spruce Knob and had lunch.

CD’s dream was to ride a 4-wheeler one more time to Big Creek Hollow.  With the assistance of Vanessa, Brad Davis and PHCC his dream came true. CD, his family and staff members rode for several hours on a trail in Big Creek Hollow. Lunch was provided for him and his family!
